| Three types of insurance are compulsory, and there are two optional extras. Brief details are shown below. For full details, please refer to the policy documents. | Rule 1.4 | |

| Public Liability Insurance This covers the risk of being sued for negligence if there is an accident. It is vital because we do not have 'limited liability'. Without this insurance, any award of damages would come first from League funds, and if this was not enough, from the pockets of the Committee members. You are covered for all activities organised by the League, including football matches (including friendly and practice games), fundraising, social events, training, trials, food and drink, member to member liability, committee meetings, subject to certain limitations (see below). The limit of cover is £5 million. There are no age limits for adults. Cover is worldwide, but may be insufficient for North America. Certificates can be supplied if required for your local Council. The following are some of the items that are not covered under our public liability insurance: -
|
||
| Personal Accident Insurance This policy can provide cash for a player, committee member or other insured helper who is killed or injured at a game or other organised Little League Football activity. The payout is limited as follows: - |
||
| Fatal Accident | £2,000 | |
| Permanent total disablement | £50,000 | |
| Loss of (or loss of use of) one hand or foot or one eye | £50,000 | |
| Loss of speech | £50,000 | |
| Loss of hearing (both ears) | £50,000 | |
| There are no weekly benefits under this policy. Double the cover may be arranged at slightly less than twice the premium. |
||
| All activities organised by Little League Football Committees are covered, including trials, training, friendly and practice games, committee meetings, outings and fundraising. Organised travel to or from the activity is covered. Cover is worldwide. People under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs are not covered, nor are injuries or deaths arising from fighting or provoked assault (unless in bona fide self defence). The upper age limit for adults is 75 on this policy - there is no lower age limit. |
||
| Managers' Accident Fund This fund is now 'self insured' and provides a weekly benefit for insured adults (not children) who are off work for at least two weeks following an accident arising at a Little League Football activity. The benefits are discretionary. Cover is worldwide. The Trustees are, at present: Tony O'Loughlin of Handsworth LLF (Treasurer) Brian Pattison of West Sutton LLF (Claims Officer) Dave Canham of Wimbledon LLF (Secretary) Other (Optional) Insurances
All risks insurance can be arranged to cover your equipment, cafeteria supplies, public address systems, memorabilia (excluding trophies) and possibly other items by special request (e.g. marquees). The cover is not 'new for old' so items should be insured for their secondhand value, but you must insure all of them - not just some of them. The equipment must be kept in a locked building of substantial construction when not in use, or locked in a secure compound. The first £25 of each claim is not paid. Cover applies in the U.K. only.
Money insurance covers the risk of up to £1,000 of your funds being stolen, and provides further personal accident benefits of £5,000 capital sum or £50.00 per week following hold up/assault. It does not cover the dishonesty of an official, unattended money (unless in a locked building), or losses abroad. The maximum amount covered in an official's house is £250.00. Cover applies in the UK only. Who is insured? League Secretaries are sent a form each summer to declare the number of players, committee members and other adult helpers (including referees) during the last season, and an estimate for the season to come.
Would Secretaries please note that any delay in returning the form holds up the arrangements for every League.
