Little League Football Officers' Manual

17 GIRLS' FOOTBALL

Refer to

Individual Little Leagues should be encouraged to promote girls' football within their organisation.

With the emphasis on equal opportunity, it is normally possible to gain financial help and advice from local Councils, Active Sports organisations and the NEC to help meet the costs of forming a girls' section.

NEC

Wherever possible, girls' sections should follow the same format as boys with the general concept of Little League Football central to their development.

Every team must have at least one female Team Manager and as with the boys' section, a stringent vetting procedure for adult volunteers must be maintained.

A representative from the girls' section should be elected to the League Management Committee where their views can be raised at the appropriate level.

Mixed football is permitted at mini-soccer level but only single sex football is allowed once a child reaches Under 12 (School year 7).
