Leagues are encouraged to recruit as many Officials as they possibly can who are prepared to act as Referee or Assistant Referees.
Support can be obtained from your local referees society who may provide Referees who are prepared to be a member of a pool of referees who can and are willing to officiate occasionally.
It is quite common for ex Little League Football players to express an interest in becoming Referees and from the age of 14 years can attend a Referees training course. (Some leagues will actually pay the fees for the training.) Although too young to register with the County FA, they may officiate with the authority of the leagues Referees Secretary.
The Referees Associations are trying to implement a two tier training system
in which trainee referees will be required to referee games while they attend
the training course. With most other leagues reluctant to take on newly
qualified and youth referees, Little League Football can provide an invaluable
service to football organisations as a whole.
Match Officials, whether qualified or not, deserve every support, and it is expected in Little League Football that all decisions made are accepted without question. Team Managers in particular have a responsibility to set standards of personal conduct and ensure that their team and supporters follow the example. |
